Community Events — August

We would like to share some information about two non-profit organizations we support and give details about the community events they have coming up this August.

The Round Rock Area Serving Center carries out a community-wide mission of churches, other organizations and individuals serving human needs in the City of Round Rock and surrounding areas. Services provided include a food pantry, Round Rock Coats for Kids, clothing & furniture vouchers, Computers for Kids, community gardens, The Volunteer Center, computer skills training, and financial assistance for utilities, rent, prescriptions, transportation, and temporary lodging. This is an organization we have supported for many years and believe they have a positive impact in our community. Their 11th Annual Karamu Event this weekend, August 12th, will be an evening of laughter, food, entertainment, with auctions in support of the food pantry. The theme this year is Spain & Italy and the event will be held at the Old Settlers Association at 3300 E Palm Valley Blvd, Round Rock, Texas 78665. Contact Lori Scott at 512-244-2431 for ticket information.

And on August 17th, Drive a Senior will be hosting their 2nd Annual Community Builders Celebration! For those that don’t know, Drive a Senior provides free transportation and support services to seniors in the East Austin area, Round Rock, Pflugerville, and Hutto. Their goal is to keep seniors living happy and healthy in their own homes longer by providing volunteer transportation to and from the doctors’ offices, the grocery store and other needed appointments. This particular event will be honoring both Nancy Rabb of Round Rock and Janice Gibbs Heath of Pflugerville for the work they have done to make their respective community a better place for seniors to live! As a sponsor of this event, we encourage you to come out and visit with both Nancy and Janice and learn more about what Drive a Senior-Senior Access is doing to enhance the lives of homebound seniors.

Don’t hesitate to reach to us if you have questions about how to get involved with either of these non-profit organizations. And if you miss these events in August, stay tuned for many more coming up in September!
